Invisalign Q & A

I don’t like my teeth. Should I try Invisalign?

Invisalign is an ideal orthodontic treatment if you want straighter teeth but aren’t interested in the visibility of braces. These custom-made, clear aligners are transparent and removable, allowing you to straighten your teeth discreetly. Like braces, Invisalign gradually shifts your teeth into a straighter position for a more aesthetically pleasing smile and improved bite alignment.

The Invisalign process is completely digital. The Art and Dentistry team uses digital impressions to create your personalized treatment plan, allowing Invisalign to create your clear aligners.

Is Invisalign always better than braces?

While Invisalign is appropriate for most orthodontic cases, it’s not always the best option. It can address many of the same orthodontic concerns as braces, such as:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Overcrowding

However, braces can be a more effective option for more severe cases of misalignment because they provide greater control over tooth movement.

Can I get Invisalign after braces?

Yes. You can get Invisalign after braces if your teeth shift back or new orthodontic concerns develop. Many adults seek Invisalign treatment because they didn’t wear their retainer consistently after getting their braces removed. If you’re unhappy with how your teeth look, even after braces, Invisalign may be right for you.

Do I have to wear Invisalign all the time?

You must wear Invisalign for at least 20-22 hours a day, removing your clear aligners only to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. If you stay consistent, you can also take out Invisalign for special events. The more you wear Invisalign, the more effective it is in achieving your desired results.

Are the effects of Invisalign permanent?

Invisalign, like braces, can deliver permanent results if you adhere to your treatment plan. Your teeth are vulnerable to shifting immediately after you complete treatment. The team may fit you for a retainer to prevent shifting and maintain your newly straightened smile.

Most people should wear a retainer for most of the day after Invisalign treatment, but soon you may only have to wear one at night.

Invisalign allows you to achieve a straighter smile on your own terms. Call Art and Dentistry today to learn more.
